Handyman Services in London

Some jobs are too small for a builder but still need to be done properly. A curtain pole that pulls out of the plaster, a blind fitted crooked or a heavy mirror hung on the wrong fixing is a problem waiting to happen. Our handyman services cover the fitting and hanging jobs around your home. We use the right fixing for your wall, and we check for pipes and cables before we drill.

We are a local handyman service in London. You also have our builders, plumbers, electricians, decorators and tilers behind you. When a small job needs a specialist, we can arrange it instead of leaving it half done.

Our Handyman Services

Curtain fitting

Curtain poles, rails and tracks fitted level and secure. This includes bay windows, wide windows and walls that need special fixings.

Blind fitting

Roller, Roman, Venetian and vertical blinds, fitted inside or outside the window recess. Cord safety devices are fitted wherever the blind has cords.

Mirror fitting

Mirrors hung straight and safely. This includes large and heavy mirrors, and bathroom mirrors fixed to tiles without cracking them.

Hanging and fitting services

Pictures, artwork, shelves and other wall-mounted items, positioned where you want them and fixed to hold their weight.

Fixings

The Right Fixing for Every Wall

The fixing matters more than the item. We identify the wall before we drill:

  • Solid brick or block: Wall plugs and screws sized for the load.
  • Plasterboard: Cavity fixings for lighter items. For heavy items we fix into the timber or metal studs behind the board, or add support.
  • Lath and plaster: Found in older homes. It needs careful drilling and fixings into the timber behind, so the plaster does not crack or come away.
  • Tiles: Special drill bits and a slow, steady approach, so tiles do not crack. Where possible, we drill through the grout.

We use a detector to check for hidden pipes and cables before drilling, and we avoid the zones where cables usually run.

What Jobs Can a Handyman Do?

Our handyman service covers fitting and hanging jobs: curtain poles and tracks, blinds, mirrors, pictures, artwork and shelves. Many other small jobs around the home are covered by our specialist services:

Small wall repairs

repairing holes in walls left by old fixings, and filling cracks in walls.

Resealing

Replacing mouldy sealant around baths and showers with our siliconing service.

When you contact us, list everything you need done. We will group the jobs into one visit where we can.

What Can a Handyman Not Do?

Some work needs a qualified specialist by law, or because of the risk:

Gas work

Anything involving gas appliances or pipework must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Our plumbing services arrange this.

Electrical work

New circuits, consumer units and work in bathrooms are notifiable under the building regulations. Our electrician services handle all electrical work.

Structural work

Removing walls or altering load-bearing parts of the building needs a structural engineer's design and building regulations approval.

Unvented hot water cylinders

These must be installed by someone qualified to fit them.

We will tell you if a job needs a specialist, and arrange it within our team where we can.

Insurance

Does a Handyman Need Insurance?

There is no legal requirement for a handyman to hold insurance. Even so, public liability insurance is strongly recommended, because it covers accidental damage to your property or injury to other people while the work is being done. Before any tradesperson starts work in your home, it is reasonable to ask whether they are insured and what the cover includes.

Pricing

How Our Handyman Work Is Priced

Many handyman jobs can be given a fixed price once we know what is involved. For example, the number and type of items, the size and weight, the type of wall, and whether you have bought the items or need advice on what to buy. Send us a list and photos, and we will tell you the price before we come. When there are several small jobs, grouping them into one visit is usually better value than booking them separately.

After work

The Finishing Touch After Building Work

Handyman jobs are often the last step after a renovation or redecoration: curtains back up, blinds fitted to new windows, and mirrors and shelves hung in a new bathroom. When we carry out a renovation or decorating job, we can include these finishing tasks, so the rooms are ready to live in on handover.

Can't see your question? Call or WhatsApp us — we're happy to help before you book.

Q1

How much does a handyman charge per hour in London?

Rates vary. Many handyman jobs are better priced as a fixed price per job, so you know the cost in advance. Send us a list of jobs and photos, and we will tell you the price before we visit.

Q2

What jobs can a handyman do?

Our handyman service fits curtain poles, tracks and blinds, and hangs mirrors, pictures, artwork and shelves. Small wall repairs, resealing, tile replacement and appliance installation are covered by our specialist services.

Q3

Does a handyman need insurance?

It is not a legal requirement, but public liability insurance is strongly recommended. It covers accidental damage or injury during the work. It is reasonable to ask any tradesperson about their cover before they start.

Q4

What can a handyman not do?

Gas work, notifiable electrical work, structural alterations and unvented cylinder installation must be done by qualified specialists. We arrange these through our plumbing and electrical teams.

Q5

Can you hang a heavy mirror on plasterboard?

Yes, with the right fixings. Heavy mirrors are fixed into the studs behind the plasterboard, or supported with heavy-duty cavity fixings or extra timber, depending on the weight.

Q6

Can you fit blinds and curtains I have already bought?

Yes. We fit blinds, curtain poles and tracks that you have bought, as long as they come with their brackets and fittings. We check the measurements before we drill.
